Why I don't watch the news anymore...

I don't watch any news. I do not read the newspaper and I don't read news online, anymore. Why? Because I am sick and tired of alle the negativity. I don't like the fact that only bad news seem to be good news. I used to end up being upset after watching the news. And the worst thing: I won't be able to change any of the bad things happening by watching it or reading about it. Of course, I have to get informed about things. If I am interested in a special topic I use the internet and good old books to get the information I need. I talk to my family and friends about things that are happening but I do not have to watch cruel pictures.
I am not afraid to miss something. I haven't been watching the news for about six months now and the only time I recognized I missed something was at a birthday party where people were talking about things happening in Iraq. To be honest, I was happy not to have known about Iraq. I did not want to know.

That is not because I don't care. I do care! But I know I won't help the people in Iraq by talking about it. We have to take action ourselves to make the world a better place. I want to do that. I think we first have to change ourselves in order to change the world: that is why I don't watch the news anymore. So I can be a more positive woman and give more positive feelings to the people around me.

What do you say? I am interested in your opinion on that topic. Please, post your comments down below :-) Photo credit: dsevilla via photopin cc
